Join us on a walk of cultural, ecological, archaeological and natural discovery as we explore ancient ruins, lush jungle, traditional villages, local plantations, and trek through rice paddies in the spectacular heartland of Bali. Our trek begins with a descent to the 11th-century tombs of Bali’s Queen Mahendradatta (also known by her title, Gunapriyadharmapatni) and her royal consort, Udayana. Trekking along the banks of a pristine spring-fed river, gurgling below, we pass through lush jungle area, a variety of fruit trees (local plantations) and pass numerous hidden temples and hermit sanctuaries (truly a photographers dream), whilst enjoying the sounds and sights of nature at its best.

Itinerary

Pick-up from your accommodation by our guide and driver at the time confirmed by our office.
08:00 Arrive at Pura Mengening. Explore the temple, then continue on to Mengening waterfall.
09.45 Visit Gunung Kawi temple. Our guide will show and explain the inner sanctums of the sacred Gunung Kawi Temple for around 1 hour. After Gunung Kawi you will walk directly on, into the rice paddies making your way towards Bukit Village.
11.00 A fresh young coconut to quench your thirst and fresh ‘Jajan’ Bali will be served at Ketut’s organic vegetable garden among the rice fields of Tampak Siring. After enjoying the coconut break, we will continue on, your trek leading you through some small local villages to observe local lifestyle and activities.
12.00 To finish the trek, head to Surya restaurant for a set menu organic lunch.
